Labor Department enforcers backpedal

Writer says U.S. Department of Labor employees are just trying to justify their actions in the "hot goods" cases.

This is regarding the story headlined “Wage case proof scant.” As a non-grower, I am just an outside observer. It is interesting that this case is the only one I ever recall reading about in my favorite news source.

What I get is a bureaucrat trying to justify his job. And the law is sure not necessary. Aren’t there already labor laws on the books concerning workers being paid? Don’t “piece workers” get paid for what they produce — a big reason to produce as much as possible in the time allowed. I picked lemons one season and got a bonus for two extra boxes I picked.

Now that the enforcers have been caught in a lie, they are backpedaling on their unjustifiable actions. A pat on the back for Farm Bureau for trying to right a wrong.
