Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during May ended the reporting week on Thursday, May 8, at $7.90-8.1025, mostly $8.0025.

CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during May ended the reporting week on Thursday, May 8, at $7.90-8.1025, mostly $8.0025. Bids were 10 to 18 cents per bushel higher than last Thursday’s bids for May delivery of $7.80-7.9225, mostly $7.8525.

White club wheat premiums for this week were 30 to 50 cents, mostly 45 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids compared to 50 to 80 cents, mostly 60 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids last week.

One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during May ended May 8 at $7.65-7.71 mostly $7.67 with no white club wheat premiums.

Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the week on May 2 at mostly $7.9725. Bids moved lower to the weekly low of mostly $7.96 on May 5 and then moved higher to the weekly high of mostly $8.0275 on May 6. Bids moved lower on May 7 to mostly $8.0025 and held steady through May 8.

There were no confirmed export sales for the week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: June $8.0025-8.1025, July $7.7725-7.8875, August New Crop $7.8275-7.9375 and September $7.8775-7.9375. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: June $7.70-7.76, July $7.5525-7.71, August New Crop $7.52-7.6025 and September $7.5525-7.6025.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of May 8, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 603.6 thousand MT compared to 616.0 thousand MT on May 1 and 245.2 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 155.4, Philippines 125.3, South Korea 105.7, Indonesia 55.0, Thailand 39.0, Taiwan 12.9, Guatemala 11.3, Nigeria 7.1, Malaysia 3.8, China 2.0, Burma 1.0, Vietnam 0.9, Hong Kong 0.8, Canada 0.7, United Arab Emirates 0.7, and total unknown 82.0.

Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of May 8 in 1000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 3905.2 compared to 4361.6 one year ago. Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2014, and ending May 31, 2015, in 1000 MT, totaled 629.4 and were to the following countries: South Korea 101.6, Philippines 94.6, Japan 35.8, Guatemala 25.6, Malaysia 20.0, Taiwan 13.6, El Salvador 12.7, Venezuela 9.0, Vietnam 6.0 and total unknown 310.5.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of May 8, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 44.8 compared to 45.0 on May 01, 2014 and 2.7 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 36.8, South Korea 7.2 and Taiwan 0.8. Accumulated barley export shipments as of May 1, were 136.3 thousand MT compared to 131.4 one year ago. Outstanding U.S. barley export sales for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2014 and ending May 31, 2015, in 1000 MT, totaled 3.6 and were to the following countries: Japan 2.4, Taiwan 1.0 and Philippines 0.2.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for May delivery were $275.00, steady compared to May 2 noon bids.
