Grade guidelines used in this report have the following relationship to Relative Feed Value (RFV), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF), TDN (Total Digestible Nutrients), or Crude Protein (CP) test numbers:

CALIFORNIA HAY

Compared to last week: All classes traded steady with moderate demand. Retail hay is in high demand due to lack of hay in barns this year. According to the NASS Crop Production Annual Report, California Hay Harvested for 2017 was 1,100,000 vs 1,220,00 in 2016 and yield per acre for 2018 was 5.48 vs 5.57 for 2016. Surrounding states (Oregon, Utah, Arizona and Nevada) had no change in acres, but overall for the U.S. acres increased from 36,596,000 to 37,221,000.
