UC seeks herdsman for research facility

The University of California is seeking a herdsman to manage livestock at its research facility in Browns Valley, Calif.

BROWNS VALLEY, Calif. — The University of California is seeking a herdsman to manage livestock at its Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center here.

Applications are being taken through July 25 for the position, which will monitor the health and condition of cattle and perform routine health treatments, according to a California Cattlemen’s Association newsletter.

Duties would also include watching and helping cows and heifers during calving and performing routine animal husbandry, moving cattle by horseback in steep terrain, handling livestock feeds and helping with research, the newsletter explained.
