DAVIS, Calif. — Sign-ups for disaster assistance under the new Farm Bill are set to begin April 15, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced.
The Livestock Indemnity Program and the Livestock Forage Disaster Program will pay eligible producers for livestock deaths and grazing losses that have occurred since the expiration of the livestock programs in 2011, the USDA explained in a news release.
Enrollment also begins on April 15 for producers with losses covered by the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program and the Tree Assistance Program, according to the release.
To expedite applications, producers should gather records documenting losses. For information or to schedule an appointment, producers are encouraged to contact their county Farm Service Agency offices.
