IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (December 20, 2017) – In 1960 the Reed Brothers open their first dairy store at the farm. After several remodels Reed’s Dairy has built a new Ice Cream and Dairy Store at their farm.
Ribbon Cutting for the new store is December 20th at 1:00 pm. With ice cream and grilled cheese sandwiches to follow. The three founding brothers are LeRoy, Dave and Larry Reed. They all worked together as boys to their retirement on their farm and dairy. Larry was the driving force for the brothers to start milking cows.
The guests of honor to cut the ribbon will be the Carol Reed, Larry’s wife and LeRoy and LaRene Reed. We miss Larry, Dave and Sharon who are not with us any longer.
Now instead of seating 12 people they are able to seat 40 people in a wonderful roomy new facility. Reed’s Dairy is located at 2660 West Broadway in Idaho Falls.
Reed’s Dairy is a community tradition, hosting events and parties for people to see their farm and celebrate holidays. As well as the farm animal petting area and picnic space people enjoy all summer long.
Described as “creamy and dreamy” and “supernaturally sumptuous” by Saveur Magazine, Reed’s Dairy ice cream is handmade at the Idaho Falls dairy in small batches. The dairy crafts it five gallons at a time in an old-fashioned batch freezer with all-natural ingredients and no artificial stabilizers.
The new store offers 24 flavors of ice cream as well as 8 flavors of Italian Ice and their own custard for great tasting Gelati. Reeds have added a soft serve machine to make available their own old-fashioned soft serve mix.
Dessert isn’t the only thing on the menu at Reed’s Dairy, though. In addition to ice cream and milkshakes, the store serves its signature tomato-basil soup and grilled cheese and ham-and-cheese sandwiches.
The store also offers a variety of dairy products for takeout, including butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, squeaky cheese curds, chocolate milk, and a wide array of white milk like skim, 1 percent, 2 percent, whole, and raw. You can take its ice cream home with you, too, in pints, half-gallons, and 2-1/2 gallon tubs. During the holiday season the dairy offers eggnog and chocolate nog, which is half chocolate milk and half eggnog.
